This path gets impossibly muddy in wet weather. A proper surface would be great, but if that's too costly put some rubble down on the worst patches.
This path is a short-cut to our nearest shop, handy for topping up on groceries, veg etc. Or to treat yourself in the farm restaurant. The path promotes healthy exercise, and reduces car use.
This is a brilliant route for walkers into Lewes, linking up of course with the new cycle and pedestrian path. A relatively decent surface would permit use of the footpath throughout the year and not just in the summer months. The benefits of easy access to the farm shop, less car use and walking generally are all self evident. For older villagers in particular regular walking is an excellent way of maintaining fitness in lieu of more strenuous physical activity.
Walking is an easy and pleasant way to keep fit and it is open to all. It is best to maintain and improve existing facilities than to create new facilities that have a more restricted usage. This footpath is a good cross-country route towards Lewes.
